Inkscape SVG files: editing and outlined text

Keep an editable copy

Save the editable text version before converting lettering. Outlined letters are shapes; they are no longer editable as a sentence.

Convert objects to paths

1. Select the object or text you want to outline.
2. Choose Path → Object to Path.
3. Save a separate SVG copy and inspect the letters, including their enclosed holes.

Check physical dimensions

Width and height define the canvas; the viewBox defines its internal coordinates. Confirm the dimensions after import into the destination software.
